Reinstatement Policy/Application |

The requirements for a successful return to Active status are based on the total number of years the individual's status has been Inactive, Resigned or Administrative Suspend. There are three options for certification reinstatement based on the duration of inactivity:
Option 1 – If Inactive, Resigned or Administrative Suspend for less than two CE reporting periods:
- Complete the appropriate number of CEUs by the end of the current reporting period (dependent on the individual’s reporting cycle)
- Provide proof of current certification in emergency cardiac care
Option 2* – If Inactive, Resigned or Administrative Suspend for less than two CE reporting periods:

Once you have selected Option 2 and have taken the BOC exam, Option 1 is no longer an option for reinstatement. If you select Option 2, you must pass the BOC exam in order to be reinstated. |
Option 3 – If Inactive, Resigned or Administrative Suspend for two or more CE reporting periods:

RBE candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Certification is currently in a "Resigned" status
- Certification is currently in an "Inactive" status
- Certification is currently in an "Administrative Suspend" status
- Certification status was "Revoked" for administrative reasons prior to January 1, 2006

Pass the BOC certification exam
- RBE candidates are considered retake candidates
- All policies regarding exam candidates apply with the exception of the "Certification Exam Eligibility" and "The Application Process" sections (see BOC Exam Candidate Handbook for details)
- Upon passing the exam, certification will be reinstated using the same certification number; the certification date will change to the date of reinstatement
- Upon failure of the exam, RBE candidates may retake the exam; attempts are unlimited
