Inactive Status Policy/Application |

The BOC realizes that life is very dynamic. Inactive status is for anyone who voluntarily chooses to place his/her certification on hold. This includes, but is not limited to, ATs who are not practicing athletic training due to retirement, military duty, medical reasons, change in profession, family reasons, etc. Please review the policies to see if Inactive status is the right choice for you.

A BOC Certified AT who wishes to have his/her status changed from Active to Inactive must apply for this status with the BOC |

2.

A $25 non-refundable application fee must accompany each application submitted |
|
3.
|
Active is defined as an AT who has met all current certification and recertification requirements |
|
4.
|
Inactive is defined as an individual who has voluntarily requested to place his/her certification on hold |
|
5.
|
State regulatory agencies are notified of changes in certification status |
|
6.
|
The NATA is notified of changes in certification status |
|
7.
|
While classified as Inactive, the AT agrees to not do the following:
- supervise students who are satisfying the athletic training requirements for certification eligibility
- serve as an item writer for the BOC certification exam
- present himself/herself to the public as a practicing AT
- use the initials "ATC" or "C.A.T." after his/her name

When and if the individual wishes to have his/her certification reinstated, it is the responsibility of the individual to apply for Active status (see Reinstatement Policy/Application)
To apply online:
- Log in to BOC Central™
- In the "Forms" section, select "Complete/Review a Form"
- Select AT 3.2 - Inactive Status Application (which can initially be found in the "New Forms" tab)
- Complete and submit the form
To apply via mail or fax, complete the Inactive Status Application and send with payment to:
