The BOC normally processes applications within 2 business days. At times closer to deadline dates, the time frame may extend to 3-5 business days.

ECC requirements can be found on the BOC website.

ECC is no longer a requirement for exam eligibility; however, it is a requirement for certification. Certification will not be granted until an official transcript and a copy of either an ECC card or certificate (signed by the participant) has been received by the BOC. ECC cards or certificates (signed by the participant) may be mailed, emailed or faxed to:

The appeal must be submitted in writing to the BOC and should specifically indicate the reason(s) for the appeal as well as why the appeal should be granted. The appeal should also include the date and location of the exam as well as the name(s) of proctor(s) or any other parties involved. The administrative complaint or exam administration challenge must be sent to the BOC in writing and postmarked no later than 24 hours after the exam was taken.

Results are posted on the BOC website 2-4 weeks from the last day of the exam window. Candidates will receive an email from the BOC stating that have been posted online. Exam scores are mailed to candidates via USPS 2-4 weeks from the last day of the exam window.

Security and data analysis are the main reasons the BOC does not provide immediate feedback for the exam. The exam item bank needs to be very large in order for organizations to feel comfortable that the security of the exam is not being compromised. To ensure exam reliability and validity and to help determine raw versus scaled scores, it is necessary for the BOC to gather statistical analyses on exam items.

Candidates must submit the following items to complete their files for certification. Use of the ATC^® credential is strictly prohibited until a candidate's file is complete and the BOC has granted certification.
