Self Assessment Exams

Online self assessment exams are available to students preparing for the BOC certification exam or ATs seeking an assessment of their continuing education needs. Content experts who develop the BOC certification exam wrote the questions in these self assessment exams, which will help to determine areas of strength and weakness in athletic training for future study or to identify continuing education needs.

The BOC offers integrated self assessment exams in test and study modes, and each integrated self assessment exam includes 75 total questions that are representative of the questions on the BOC certification exam including multiple-choice, multi-select and drag-and-drop as well as a focused testlet comprised of 5 questions that reference a common scenario. Please note that some of the multiple-choice questions on each version of the integrated self assessment exam may be the same as the respective version of the previously-available multiple-choice self assessment exam. Although the content areas of the self assessment exams are comparable to those of the actual certification exam, the questions included in the self assessment exams will never appear on a future certification exam.

In study mode, candidates are provided with the correct answer and a reference by clicking on the "Solutions" link located on the right side of the screen for each multiple-choice question. Therefore, no final score is given. Click here to view a sample results page.

Candidates have 24 hours of accumulative time to take the self assessment, as long as it is completed within 365 days of purchase. Candidates cannot reenter the self assessment exam once it has been submitted for scoring.

NOTE: The questions within each version in study mode are identical to the questions within the same version in test mode.

In test mode, you will receive your score and brief diagnostic information detailing your areas of strength and weakness at the domain level immediately after you take a self assessment exam. For best results, you are advised to concentrate your study efforts or continuing education on the content areas where you demonstrated weakness rather than to focus on a specific question that gave you trouble. The self assessment exams are available via the internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will have 1 year from the purchase date to complete a self assessment exam once you have paid and established a username and password. NOTE: You will not be allowed to go back to the self assessment exam after you have submitted it for scoring.

Before you take a self assessment exam, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with Castle's testing environment by viewing their Testing Instructions and taking their free Sample Test. In addition, please Be Certain.™ to check your System Requirements. If you are currently running Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8, then you must first switch to Desktop Mode before accessing any self assessment exams. When you are ready to take the self assessment exam, simply create a User Account, purchase the exam and begin testing.
